Main Gate
Konnichi wa!(Hi!) Welcome to Rikkyo University! My name is Nathan from France. At Ikebukuro Campus there are 7 colleges and 11 graduate schools. Here the old red-brick buildings coexist in beautiful harmony with the modern architecture. It takes only 7 minutes from Ikebukuro Station – one of the main stations in Tokyo – to the green campus of Rikkyo University that is always bustling with students.Whenever I enter the gate I am proud of being a Rikkyo student!
Main Building
(Building No.1, Morris Hall)
Main Building(Building No.1, Morris Hall)
This is the main building and the symbol of Rikkyo. It is also known as the "Morris Building" because it was built with a donation from the American Episcopal Church missionary Arthur Rutherford Morris.
The clock on the central tower is made by the English Dent Company. Its diameter is 90 cm. The clock is weight driven and hand wound every 3 to 4 days.
It was completed in 1919 and its rooms have been used as classrooms ever since.
In March 2012 the whole building was renovated and became barrier-free.
The two Himalayan Cedar trees in front of the main building are decorated with lights in the Christmas season, and bring different colors to Rikkyo for each of the four seasons.

My name is Jacob from the United States and I work for the International Office. The International Office and the Center for Japanese Language Education are located on the 1st floor of McKim Hall. The International Office supports approximately 1000 international students as well as domestic students who are interested in studying abroad. In addition to the Japanese Language Program, the Center for Japanese Language Education provides support for non-native students and researchers through the Japanese Language Counseling Room and the Kanji Certification Examination. If you need assistance with anything, you can always ask the friendly staff there.
Global Lounge
Global Lounge
The Global Lounge was established as a place to cultivate the mindset of collaboration with people who hold different values as a citizen of the Earth. The Global Lounge plans and carries out many events throughout the year based around the two ideas of the "promotion of studying abroad" and "intercultural exchange". There are many different events, such as international students who study at Rikkyo introducing their home countries' cultures, workshops on Japanese and foreign cultures, intercultural exchange bus tours, and information sessions on the study abroad system at Rikkyo University. This is a great place to make friends.

This is the prayer room on the 3rd floor of McKim Hall. Although it is mainly intended for use by Muslim international students, this facility is open to anyone regardless of one's religion. The prayer room was established as a part of campus environmental improvements related to the internationalization strategy in which Rikkyo aims to increase the number of its international students.

Main Dining Hall
Main Dining Hall
Hi! My name is Kai from Japan. This is the building of the main dining hall, popular for its beautiful brick exterior and stucco walls. It was built in 1919 and has been selected as one of the most historical buildings in Tokyo.
Above the entrance there is an inscription in Latin – “Reason should direct and appetite obey”, which is a playful take on Cicero's “Desire should obey reason.”
The menu has a large variety of dishes with good flavors and ample serving sizes, and it is rated highly by students.

(Sycamore Avenue)
The trees of the Sycamore Avenue called 'Suzukake no michi' that runs from the East to the West between Buildings 4 and 10 were planted in 1924. One can see students enjoying fresh greenery in the spring and the autumn leaves in the fall while sitting on the benches on both sides of the lane.

Ikebukuro Library
Ikebukuro Library
Hi! My name is Sabine from Austria. The Ikebukuro Campus Library occupies 5 floors from the 2nd basement to the 3rd floor of Lloyd Hall. The library is one of the largest libraries in Japan, even compared to other universities, with a storage capacity of 2 million books and 1520 seats for readers. It is designed so students can stay for long periods of time, with a space for eating inside and a cafe on the outside. It also provides support for studies and research. There are special rooms for groupwork and students can get help with writing from graduate students.
Chapel
Chapel
Here is the chapel. There are various services held at the chapel such as for daily worship, the foundation anniversary and Christmas. Many concerts, such as for pipe organ and hand bells, and also weddings take place here as well.
When it was first built there was only the main room of the chapel, but the waiting room on the west side, the corridor, and the balcony above the entrance were added later on.
The pipe organ in the chapel was produced by the Kenneth Tickell&Company in the British Romantic style.
The chapel conducts many services throughout the year and everybody is welcome to attend regardless of one's religion.

The Paul Rusch Athletic Center is a 7 floor gymnasium (2 basement floors and 5 floors above ground). There is an arena, training room, running course, 50 meter heated pool, and on the roof are tennis and footsal courts. It is named after former Rikkyo University professor Paul Rusch, who came to Japan in 1925 and spread American football in Japan while working to help revive sports after the war.

The Edogawa Rampo Residence
The Edogawa Rampo Residence
This is the residence of the late writer Edogawa Rampo. He wrote mainly mystery novels during the Taisho and Showa eras and is still quite popular even today. In 1934, Rampo moved to this house next to Rikkyo University, where he lived until 1965, when he passed away at the age of 70. The two-story storehouse was used as a library, with Japanese and Western books on the first floor and Japanese books, mainly Edo literature on the second floor. In 2002, this storehouse and nearly 40,000 books were transferred to Rikkyo University.

Graduate School of Business
I'm Nathan from France! After an exchange year in Rikkyo, I decided to enroll as a fully matriculated student. I am currently in the second year of a Master's in International Business (MIB). I chose Rikkyo because the MIB classes are conducted in English and prepare you extremely well for those who want to work in Japan. The Japanese classes are also very helpful. For an exchange year or as a regular student, I can only recommend Rikkyo! The Ikeburo campus is beautiful and very well located just next to the city. There is a big community of international students and a lot of opportunities to interact with Japanese students as well. Rikkyo gives you all the tools you need for a successful year abroad and offers you the best opportunities to enjoy a true Japanese lifestyle!
My Favorite Spot The Global Lounge and the Gym The Global Lounge is where I got to interact the most with domestic students on campus. There are a lot of events too! I joined the Badminton Club and that was truly a good experience. Try joining a club!

Hello, I am Kai from Japan. I’m a fourth-year student and taking political science at Rikkyo University. I have three reasons why I decided to study at Rikkyo. Firstly, the campus is so beautiful. Many buildings are made of bricks, and they look like western buildings. Also, the location of the campus is convenient. The main campus is located in Ikebukuro and there are many train lines, so it is easy to commute and hang out with friends. Finally, the environment for studying is great. There are prominent professors, and what’s more, Rikkyo provide us with a global environment. Therefore, I can take classes with exchange students, and this environment enlightens me. I love Rikkyo!! Rikkyo is the best university. I am 100% sure that you will love Rikkyo.
My Favorite Spot Rooftop of Building 5. It is a chill spot in Rikkyo. There is the lawn and there are benches, so you can relax. Moreover, there are usually few people. When I have free time, I used to go there to read books.

My name is Jacob, and I am one of the staff at the International Office in charge of the Global Lounge where we hold events for intercultural exchange and promoting study abroad. Through these events we work to provide opportunities for domestic and international students to connect with each other, broaden perspectives, and open their eyes to other cultures. I think Rikkyo students are very curious about other countries, cultures, and languages, and you will find students eager to connect with you at our events. Events are open to all students, and I hope you can join one someday!

I am Sabine from Germany! I decided to study at Rikkyo University for one year as a MIB Double Degree student because I always wanted to come to Japan for more than just an exchange semester and luckily my German University has a partnership program with Rikkyo. Now that I'm almost finished with both semesters, I am happy to say that I have enjoyed every course I took at Rikkyo! The academic content is very good and every course has been super interesting and fun. The Ikebukuro Campus is located close to the station, which is perfect for commuting from elsewhere. And especially in Winter, with the Christmas Illumination, the campus turns into a magical place. If you are thinking about enrolling at the Rikkyo University, just do it! It is the perfect opportunity to study at a high academic level while making friends from all over the world. It is an unforgettable experience!
My Favorite Spot The Cafeteria and the Gym You have the perfect combination of inexpensive but very tasty food and the possibility to train that food off again, located just a few minutes walking distance from each other.
Colleges/Graduate Schools are from the time this was filmed in 2021.
